Talking to someone about cosplaying the other day and mentioned I wanted to crochet the 4th Doctor’s scarf. Her reaction was “Won’t the other cosplayers get mad that it’s crocheted, not knitted?”
That’s when I realised it…
Anime cosplayers can be ☂☀☁☂☃☄★s. If the fabric isn’t the EXACT shade, or if your makeup isn’t right, or… whatever, they will tear you to pieces.
Doctor Who cosplayers are all “DUDE! YOU”RE *insert whatever here*” *loud cheering* Seriously. From what I’ve seen, Whovians don’t care if you have a red bow tie or black, converse or tennis shoes, as long as you obviously put work in attempting a cosplay.
“Matt Smith is amazing. These guys, they work so hard on that show. And Matt. He learns lines so fast. Scripts are given to him last minute and they’ll go straight from one episode to the next one the next day and he’s remembered it. But he’s so full of energy and spark and imagination. You read the scene on the page and you think, that’s a good scene, but Matt gets hold of it and it’s like, ‘Wow, that’s incredible.’”—Warwick Davis On working with Matt Smith on Doctor Who
