doctorwho:

Being able to travel thorough all of time and space, The Doctor’s interacted with many real-life historical figures. From meeting Richard Nixon to fighting a Vespiform with Agatha Christie, he’s made a lot of important and famous friends.
But how has The Doctor affected their lives? How have these interactions shaped history without anyone even realizing it? Soon, we can get a peek at just one example with Doctor Who: The Shakespeare Notebooks.

Newly discovered entries and drawings in William Shakespeare’s journals reveal for the first time the astounding relationship between the great Bard and the Doctor.
Since his first adventure in 1963, the Doctor has enjoyed many encounters with William Shakespeare. Now, BBC Books has rediscovered notebooks, long thought lost, compiled by the Bard in which he divulges the influential role the Doctor played in his creative life. Here are the original notes for Hamlet, including a very different appearance by the ghost; early versions of great lines (“To reverse or not to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow”); the true story of how the faeries of A Midsummer Night’s Dream were first imagined; stage directions for plays adjusted to remove references to a mysterious blue box; and much, much more.

Lucky for us, our friends at Harper Collins were nice enough to give us 10 copies to give away to 10 lucky Whovians.
In honor of Shakespeare’s impressive portfolio (approximately 4 poems, 38 plays, and 154 sonnets that we know of,) you can have a chance at winning a copy of Doctor Who: The Shakespeare Notebooks by posting your own Doctor Who-related poem/haiku/limerick/etc.
And it’s okay if you’re not the best at writing poems, because it can be as simple as:

Roses are red, the TARDIS is blue. This example is bad, how about a haiku?

Sorry
Post yours in whatever format you’d like (text, recited in a video or audio post, drawn into a piece of fanart, etc.) using the hashtag #DW Poetry and we’ll randomly select 10 entries to win next week. We’ll be reblogging our favorites throughout the weekend, and the deadline is Monday, July 14th at 10AM EST. Good luck!
And we’re so so sorry to people outside of the Fifty States, but this giveaway is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia.)
(PS, you can always get your own copy right here if you’d like)

In case you missed it, we’re holding a contest!

Met a real bbc dalek today at The Art of the TARDIS Craft Faire which was put on by Clockwork Couture in LA.
Plus I got to interact with some lovely vendors whom I bought a few little pieces from. Overall a really fantastic way to spend an afternoon.

30 Days of Doctor Who: Day 22
What songs would appear on your Doctor Who playlist? Make us a mixtape!
While making this list I had four rules-not include Trock songs or music that has already been in Doctor Who and no repeats of artists. The fourth guideline was that the list has to be 12 tracks, even though there isn’t one for each Doctor.
Of course I didn’t follow the first rule well, since I wanted to add two of my favourite Trock songs. I wanted to avoid that genre to see how many “regular” songs reminded me of  Doctor Who. In parentheses are the episodes/reason I picked the songs.
An Awful Lot of Running-Chameleon Circuit (Doctor Who)
Starlight-Muse (10th Doctor and Rose/other companions)
Time- The Mowgli’s (The Doctor)
Home- Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (The Day of the Doctor)
Do It Anyway-Ben Folds Five (Donna and 10th Doctor)
Fall into Place-Apartment (The Wedding of River Song)
Ever After-Marianas Trench (Series 7, part I)
Pompeii-Bastille (Series 7, part II)
Another Story-The Head and the Heart (The Doctor and his companions)
Pandemonium-The Pet Shop Boys (Doctor/ Master)
After Hours -We Are Scientists (The End of Time and The Doctor)
Closing Time-Semisonic (Regeneration)
Transdimensional Mix-HardWire Productions (Doctor Who)
Listen here.

Name a planet that you’d like to visit in the TARDIS. Maybe you’d like to go to the planet the planet of slightly over-inflated beach balls, let us know!

I want to visit a planet where everyone communicates in song and dance. Broadway shows play all the time and everyone who has ever wanted to be an actor/actress has the opportunity to!

Well, my real answer will always be Saturn as it’s my favorite planet in our solar system. I’m sure the rings would be just breathtaking up close. ^.^ Also, I’ve heard that there is a gas cloud/nebula out there that smells of strawberries - I’m sure that would be fun.
Once the Doctor mentioned a world that is “all ears” - I’m sure that place would be strange and funny to visit. o.O I’d also like to see an underwater world (only if I had something to help me breathe)  …  basically I’d like to see worlds that are themed like dungeons in Zelda (grassy, airy, volcanic, etc.). xD
