I try to laugh about it: 30 Days of Summer Break Doctor Who - Day 02

chaiitii:

What’s your favorite episode (and why)?

Second day and already one of the most difficult questions. There are so many great episodes to choose from! My favourites are usually the “historic” ones, so it’ll have to be one of those.

It’s a close call between Vincent and The Doctor and The Girl in the Fireplace, but I think I have to go with The Girl in the Fireplace, not at last because it has my favourite Doctor (Ten) and companion (Rose), but also because of Sophia Myles who did a terrific job as Reinette / Madame de Pompadour.

The whole plot is really cool - The Doctor, Rose and Mickey find an abandoned space ship which has a fireplace (and other “windows”) that leads to 18th century France. The Doctor encounters a girl called Reinette at different times in her life and eventually finds out that andorids, which are wonderfully steam-punk-esque want to abduct her, which he has to prevent.

The actors are all awesome and there’s good chemistry between David Tennant and Sophia Myles, they actually have a small love story. The risks that he takes to help out Reinette further established Ten’s character, as this is one of the first episodes of this regenration, and make love him even more.

Also, those costumes and sets! Even if the plot of this episode wasn’t so exciting, I’d have loved to watch this episode just for its visual appeal.

And there is this wonderful scene of the drunk Doctor in the end - ” Well, among other things, I think I may have just invented the banana daiquiri a few centuries early.”

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most want to meet and why?

Eleven. Ever since that moment when we lost Ten he’s been there to make you smile. From his floppy hair down to his dirty boots he’s always got you on your toes. He’s spontaneous and occasionally irrational but when he messes up, he’s not afraid to admit it.

He’s extraordinarily caring, almost as if he wants to fix every problem he can in the universe. When he helped the Space Whale or when he tried so hard to save Rory or when he helped Vincent, he’s been trying to fix everything. When Rory died he tried so hard to help Amy even if she didn’t understand and it’s obvious then that he just wants everyone to be okay, for it to be the way it was before. He’s quirky, even his outfit conveys how weird he is inside. He loves to act like a kid, to run around where he’s not supposed to, to dance like no one’s looking at him. He loves to be different, even if Amy and River question it sometimes. He’s happy being himself. But even with the caring and the quirks, he’s got his dark part. When he knows there’s nothing he can do, when he’s pushed too far, when he’s being toyed with. He knows and he can’t handle it sometimes. Then there’s his relationships. He knows one day he’ll be flying alone again but it doesn’t matter. He wants to make sure that Amy and Rory are taken care of, that they know he loves them. He’s just a brilliant, brilliant Doctor. There’s nothing he can’t do and if he can’t, you know he’ll try to anyway.

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most want to meet and why?

The Fifth Doctor. Fivey. 5. (Peter Davison).

Honestly, this Doctor tends to be the one that I’d lean on due to manners, politeness and being the most in control with his emotions. He’s always trying to keep everyone together and very protective of his friends, putting their safety first above his own. He is also very curious about everything he encounters, possibly due to his young appearance and child-like innocence. He also enjoys books and the odd pot of tea. Plus, he’s quite dashing in a pair of half-moon spectacles. <3

My second choice would be:

The Eighth Doctor. Eight. 8. (Paul McGann).

Being that he’s the last Doctor before the Time War and then going uber emotional about it, this version of the Doctor posesses a sense of child-like wonder and joy (like his Fifth incarnation) despite his age, a facination with humans, and a strong urge to encourage people to enjoy life at its fullest. He’s also well mannered and gentleman-like, reflected in his Victorian attire, his soft voice and long hair, not to mention those very blue eyes. <3 He was also the first Doctor to drastically change his TARDIS desktop via his previous incarnation, and also enjoys listening to his ‘78’s (records) with a cup of tea.

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most like to meet and why?

For being the hyperactive good-time accessory-horse that he is, I would most like to meet Eleven. Mostly to twang his braces and ruffle his hair. Twang.

I’d most like to meet the twelfth doctor and ask him why he regenerated and what happened with Madame Kovarian and who is River to him and all those burning questions all Whovians want answers to at the moment.

Out of his current regenerations, however, I’d have to say I would like to meet eleven the most, I love his sense of humor and quirky personality, and he is my doctor.

A Complicated Event in Time and Space: 30 Days of Summer Break Doctor Who - Day 1

annakie:

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most want to meet and why?

I’ve put a bit of thought into this since the official Doctor Who tumblr asked the question, and I’ve decided that if I could meet any of the Doctors, I’d like to meet the Eighth Doctor.

The Eighth Doctor

I choose the Eighth Doctor for a couple of reasons.

First, he doesn’t have the Time War hanging over his head yet.  His people are still alive, and though he’s not always on good terms with them, he still has them, and therefore his spirit is lighter and freer than modern Who Doctors. Maybe we’d get to hang out with Romana, too.

Second, he just has this joy of being alive and a childlike wonder about everything still, even though by the time he’s had this regeneration he’s hundreds of centuries old.  In the movie, he just seems like such fun, and in the audios I’ve heard (which admittedly, isn’t much) he feels like he has all the wit and of all of his other regenerations, but a softer edge to it. He’s also had all the experiences of his first seven regenerations to talk about.

Not to mention, that it’s been a long time since he’s had his heart broken, so he won’t be moping after anyone while I’d be visiting.  (I don’t think he moped after Grace, really.)

Third, the TARDIS is really classy and looks comfortable during his tenure.  I’d rather sit in one of those lovely wingback chairs than the duct-taped jumpseat any day, sorry all the other Doctor’s TARDIS.

And last, well, the Eighth Doctor… just look at him.  That smile, that hair, the way he laughs… and he still has Jelly Babies in his pockets for when we get a bit peckish.

A Short Note for the Confused and Dazed: 30 Days of Summer Break Doctor Who

reversingpolarity:

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most want to meet and why?

How can you not want to spend all day locked up in a lab with this mofo? I have this belief that when he’s not saving the world or snarking the Brig, he’d get consumed in some kind of stupid task simply to fill in the time (pre-working TARDIS days, of course). He’d invent a pen with ink made from something of a distant planet that turned your skin bright yellow for a few hours or a mobile to hang from the ceiling that tried to eat everything which walked past.

On top of that, his Master is so, so classy and he’s surrounded by UNIT all day. Who wouldn’t want that, I ask you?! Not to mention Liz Shaw, Jo Grant, Harry Sullivan and Sarah Jane.

And then, of course, there’s all the badassery, which I’m not even going to go into detail on because it’s pretty much all in that picture. This is the guy who’s sonic screw driver caused explosions without any kind of explosives being laid down first just because he was being chased by Silurians.

The Third Doctor is my Doctor.

Great! My internet and tumblr don’t go together at the moment, so my first post was deleted.

How am I supposed to choose my favourite incarnation? I can’t even name ‘my Doctor’ - a favourite among favourites. If I started listing my favourite Doctor(s) I would end up with at least half of them and even then I would still have the feeling that someone was missing. Moreover, I couldn’t stand the fact that one incarnation had to be at the bottom of the list. So, no lists.

However, I’ll go with Six as long as he doesn’t try to choke me. I may be slightly biased at the moment since I’m listening to Leviathan while I’m writing this, but I really would like to meet the Doctor with the technicolour coat. He’s loud on the outside, but he has such a warm heart - hearts, plural, actually.

The Ninth Doctor
If I could meet any regeneration of the Doctor, I would have to say that I would love to meet the ninth doctor. The saying ‘you never forget your first doctor’ is slightly cliche, but it’s very true for me! If it were not for this fantastic Doctor I never would have continued watching this brilliant show and wouldn’t have discovered the rest! I love how is both serious and sarcastic, kind and blunt, and his love for the Earth.  He has so much emotion after the Time War and is damaged with the thought of his people. In this reincarnation we see the hurt that the Doctor goes through, and we see how he still carries on helping all those who he can. He even helps Rose, a normal girl who works in the shop to see all of space and time. And at the end of his journey he sacrafices his life to save the girl he loves, Rose, from the time vortex and her being killed.
Not many fans give him the credit he deserves, but to me he was fantastic and will always be my Doctor.
And if I met him, we could definatley eat some bananas, because bananas are good.

Numbah 5-Peter Davison

This answer would have been different a week ago. But man oh man, do I have the Peter Davison bug bad.

Why would I want to meet him?

That man is fine as HELL.

Yes, I’m having a shallow moment.

Forgive me. It’s summer. And he’s my summer gal Doctor.

Day 01: Which regeneration of The Doctor would you most want to meet and why?

Anyone who follows me should be aware of the fact the William Hartnell is my Doctor, he is the one I want to meet, the one I want to travel through time and space with and my favourite Doctor.  I think we’re fairly similar (sarcasm, grumpy, kind [even if we don’t always show it], full of wonder and curiosity) and I think we would be the best of friends.  He makes me laugh, he makes my heart ache because of everyone he has to say goodbye to.  His protective instincts are incredible.  He kidnaps Barbara and Ian to protect Susan from probing minds, and then works with them to escape in the first serial citing hope and fear as his reasons.  I love how much he changes for the better by meeting his companions.  He doesn’t want Barbara and Ian to leave in The Chase because he loves them, he says it’s because it’s for his safety, but he does love them and doesn’t want them to leave, it’s only because of Vicki that he finally agrees to help them.  I just love everything about him, I want to hug him and go on adventures and explore the universe with him.

Day 01:  Which regeneration of the Doctor would you must want to meet and why?
The Tenth Doctor was my first Doctor and one of my favorites.  He’s always bouncing around and is always ready to dive head deep into anything.  I’d like to meet him because he makes an effort to make everyone feel important and give everyone a second chance.  It’d also be a whole lot of fun to run from monsters and joke around with him!
