minivinnie asked: What should I do? I have tickets to the Day of the Doctor screening on Monday, November 25th, but I also have BBC America to watch it on Saturday. Should I see it live with everyone else and just have a heighted experience of it in 3D on Monday OR should I lock myself in a room from Saturday to Monday trying to avoid spoilers to see it for the first time in theaters Monday?
We’re doing the “Watch Several Times on Saturday AND Then Again on Monday” option because why not?
As you may have noticed, we’ve been sending out Doctor Who 50th “party packs” to a few lucky Whovians who have posted their Doctor Who 50th Anniversary party plans to the #Doctor Who Global Celebration tag on Tumblr.
We wanted to send these out to everybody but the number of sparkly blue envelopes is finite while the number of Whovians is infinitely expanding (fact.)
And that’s when we realized that THE INTERNET was
probably Time Lord technology infinite!
Here you’ll find bingo to play while you’re watching 'Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor', recipes for om noms to make for your celebration, printable invites to send to your friends, decorations for cupcakes, popcorn holders, and more.
Best of all, most of the things in this pack were created by your fellow fans of Doctor Who.
You can grab the entire pack here (10.4MB zip file.)
You can grab the entire pack as individual files by clicking the links below. Some parts have multiple pages so make sure you keep track of them.
(We tried to keep the images at sizes that would suit most people’s computers, so make sure you’re viewing the images full sized before printing. If you want any of these bigger pop them into your fave photo editor and blow ‘em up!)
And let’s make this the best Doctor Who 50th Anniversary EVER!
Got my Doctor Who party pack today from the Doctor Who Tumblr and on what better day than my birthday!
Thank you, Doctor Who Tumblr adipose! You guys rock!
lait-de-rose asked: I'm actually worried about tumblr servers crashing down due to doctor who posts flood on the 23rd
Save The Day Indeed.
clomandhisdeafweasel asked: I think the TARDIS's Translation technology was malfunctioning for the last ask.
marielobos asked: Ghjjmmbdbfggjjvb
mcchicken-nuggets asked: So for the #savetheday tardis thing can we # from tumblr or is it still mainly for instagram and facebook and stuff
We think it’s because we
threatened joked that we wanted to flood the tag with dancing Barrowman gifs.
It’s quite possible that they took us seriously.
btw, if you haven’t visited the doctorwhosavetheday site, you really should. There’s video and fan art and stuff and it’s all pretty cool.
daftpadaleki asked: Do you guys have a "secret blog" called dwtumblrhere? I got an ask from it
Yep. If you ever get an ask from ‘dwtumblrhere’, it’s from us. Thanks for checking!
Oh you know… we’re just sitting here on a Sunday at the irl dashboard of the Doctor Who Tumblr (aka the BBC America office), putting together something special for the Doctor Who Global Celebration… no big.
PSA: If you ever get a Tumblr ask or fanmail from ‘dwtumblrhere’ it’s actually from us at the Doctor Who Tumblr.
So here’s proof. And a confession. In a single post. Presented by an Adipose. Which we made while watching TV in the big BBC America living room.
Ok. That should finally do it.
This is just a reminder of our reminder of the thing you should be reminded of.
So there’s a Facebook app that let’s you put your face into the Doctor Who title sequence and it is The Best Thing.
We even made our own intro (posted above.)
Doctor Who - starring You! Fans can now have their chance to star in the iconic Doctor Who title sequence, as BBC Worldwide unveil the #SaveTheDay – Who is Coming personalised video invite Facebook app.
Mirroring the way Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith’s name and face appear in the televised version of the opening credits, fans can now visit the Doctor Who Facebook page to digitally adapt the start of the show and share the result with friends!
reinbeef asked: in your post about the bart simpson mask contest, you left the l out of Walter White so it says Water White! I don't know if you wanted to fix it, but figured i'd let you know anyways :P love this blog!
Adipose hav a hrd time witg speling. Its oyr stubbby fngers. Thamks for pointing tis out!
So after a crazy wonderful day filled with cinema screening posts, we thought we’d follow it up with something kind of fun.
At the end of San Diego Comic Con we asked Matt Smith if we could have his Bart Simpson mask.
He said yeah. And we said, “uh, yeah, that’s cool” as if we were actually somehow cool even though inside we were all like,
So we brought it back to Doctor Who Tumblr HQ where we do nothing but lounge around in our hammocks all day…
and practice our fabulous hair tosses…
… and decided that we would do a thing:
We’re going to give away the actual Bart Simpson mask that Matt Smith wore to walk the floor at Comic Con!
Here’s how this is going to work…
To win this beautiful latex artifact, come up with an idea for a Whollowmeme costume that crosses over Doctor Who with another fandom. (Get it? Because Eleven wore a Simpsons mask. It’s… never mind.)
Lisa Simpson x Amy Pond? Orphan Black x Donna Noble? The Master x Severus Snape? Seventh Doctor x Walter White? K-9 x Jake The Dog? Mickey Smith x Jake The Dog? Clara x Jake The Dog?
And we want you to do more than just post two character names — post your crossover cosplay idea in whatever way seems natural to you: drawing, gifs, written description, a photo of your actual costume. Post it to your blog and tag it Doctor Who Crossover Cosplay.
We’ll collect all of the entries off of that tag and choose a winner at random to win Matt Smith’s Bart Simpson mask(!)
And we’re sorry. We’re so so sorry, non-America, but this giveaway is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia.)
If you win and you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you.
The giveaway ends at 8pm EST Monday, October 28th!
Happy Crossover Cosplaying!! Good luck!
whimsicalmelancholy asked: You tagged that last post as "59 Days..."
Meh, who are we kidding. iPad typing is hard.
(Although how awesome is it to have a universe where we can use “timey-wimey” as an excuse for anything?)
