This weekend’s Doctor Who Tumblr Creative Challenge:
Show us a room that you think exists within the TARDIS.
Tomorrow’s episode is “Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS” where we’ll see more of the inside of our favorite ship.
Seeing Anglophenia’s post eariler today got us thinking: what other rooms would you expect to find within the TARDIS? Would they be fantastical? Practical? Neither and both and nor?
We want to see what you can come up with.
Create a room that you think would exist in the TARDIS. Show it or describe it in whatever way you like to be creative: a drawing, a painting, a photo, gifs, a short story, a model, a diorama — anything you’d like.
Our example diorama above is what we like to call the Adipose Tumblring Room. It’s where we sit on tumblr all day. It looks like this except it’s more conceptual space. Imagine a banana. Or anything curved…
…actually, don’t, because it’s not curved or like a banana- FORGET THE BANANA!
Anyway, make your own TARDIS room b/c we want to see it.
Post it using the tag “My TARDIS”.
We’ll reblog some of our favs throughout the weekend.
Cheers!

stephani-d asked you:

I asked this on the official DW blog, but idk if you answered, so I’m asking here. What’s it like, tumbling as your job?

Hold our tiny adipose hand, stephani-d. Try to see what we see. We’re so lucky we’re still alive to tumbl for this beautiful fandom. Look at dem tag pages. They’re not lame and without character. The commentary is in fact deep. And over there! Lighter commentary. And scrolling through the opinions and spoilers and whoufflé, the gifs swirling through the Dash. And there shining, burning, bursting through, the reblogs! Can you see how they increase their notes? Everywhere we look, the complex magic of Whovians blaze before our eyes.

(With the greatest of apologies to cloysterbell for reposting her entire gifset as a punchline to this ask. Kyle’s a supertalented Whovian so you should follow her anyway.)

Doctor Who Day Thing #3:

Post a pic of you getting ready to watch tonight’s episode of Doctor Who.

  1. Post your living room, your bedroom, wherever.
  2. Use the ‘Doctor Who Day’ tag.
  3. We’ll reblog a few.
  4. We’ll also (separately) pick three at random to win a Doctor Who tee. (If you win, we’ll contact you via your ‘ask’.)

For legal reasons, the sock giveaway portion is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States including the District of Columbia. Read all of the official terms and conditions here. If you win and you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you.

btw, that’s thetardislounge’s living room in the second pic.

This is your regular Saturday afternoon announcement that we will be livetumblring tonight’s U.S. BBC America Premiere of Doctor Who: Hide.
Right now Whovians in the UK are watching ‘Hide’ and posting words to their blogs like “spooky” and “terrified” and “SuperWho”.

Which means tonight should be GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

We’ll be joining you from 8/7c until the end of the broadcast to reblog your gifs and fan art and reactions off of the ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Hide’ tags on Tumblr.

If you’re going to be liveposting (or if you’re in the UK watching right now) be sure to tag your posts ‘spoilers’. We’ll be using both the ‘spoilers’ and ‘Hide’ tags so install Tumblr Savior if you can. If you can’t watch Hide until later tonight (enjoy the Prom!) or tomorrow *AND* you’re using the Tumblr app, unfollow and refollow us because we’re livetumblring in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers.

After Doctor Who, both BBC America and SPACE are showing an all new episode of Orphan Black and after that, BBC America has a new episode of The Nerdist.
The BBC Doctor Who Blog thinks that ‘Hide’ can be a contender for one of the scariest episodes ever.

Just in case they’re right, we’re building ourselves a sofa pillow fort to hide in while watching the show. And that’s only because our TARDIS tent didn’t arrive in time.

In the meantime, TODAY IS DOCTOR WHO DAY which, quite honestly, is any Saturday that has a new episode except that this Doctor Who Day we’re thinking of new fun things for Whovians to do like celebrating Sonic Sunday on a Saturday.
So let us know if you have ideas for Doctor Who Day stuff everyone can do together.
We’re about to do another one now. And we’re going to give away prizes with this next one. Because, you know…

Happy Doctor Who Day Also Known As Saturday!

That’s only because Sundays used to be boring. But that was before Sonic Sunday. Now Sundays are better. Because we looked at them and thought “this could be a little more sonic.” And that made them better. We’re also now looking at this paragraph and realizing that it contains absolutely horrible grammar. So now we’re going to distract you with a gif of that cat licking the vacuum.

Ok. First thing to do on Doctor Who Day: we’re going to celebrate Sonic Sunday on SATURDAY.

Jump in your TARDIS.

  1. Go to Sunday.
  2. Take a selfie with your Sonic Screwdriver. Come back here and post it to your blog today as part of Doctor Who Day (use the tag ‘doctor who day’.)
  3. Most important thing: YOU’LL BE TRAVELING TO THE FUTURE SO WHEN YOU COME BACK NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!image
  4. We’ll reblog some of them from the Doctor Who Day tag.
  5. GO GO GO!!!

by the way, did we ever tell you that we post every #Sonic Sunday post we can find to our RebelMouse page?

amywiliams asked: As Russian whovian I wanted to say that 'Привет товарищам!' in this post /post/47888575154/ is not completely correct, the better way to say is 'Привет, товарищи!' is you mean it as 'Hello fellas' in Russian style. Just saying. You're doing a great job guys, thank you!

Ah! Thank YOU!

The TARDIS translation circuit didn’t work for us. Perhaps she doesn’t like us. (note: we wrote that sentence just as Clara said it on television in The Rings of Akhaten. This made us giddy.)

Post amended with proper Russian!

We weren’t going to do a livetumblring announcement today but then our inbox was flooded with “WHERE’S THE LIVETUMBLRING ANNOUNCEMENT?” asks so….
We are livetumblring tonight’s U.S. BBC America Premiere of Doctor Who: Cold War!

Привет, товарищи! (Hello Comrades!)

This is your friendly weekly announcement that we will be LIVETUMBLRING tonight’s U.S. premiere of Doctor Who: Cold War.

If you’ve never joined us for a livetumblring before, let us tell you what it’s all about.

Livetumblring is a ritual of the Doctor Who Tumblr where Whovians gather around their TVs and Tumblr dashboards to watch the new episode of Doctor Who.
We live-reblog your gifs and pics and reactions to this episode as soon they happen on The Old God television. If we were all in a room together we’d sort of look like this:

Livetumblring starts at 8pm EDT and ends around 9:15pm EDT.  After that, we comb all of the episode-related tags so we can find for more of your posts.
And we’re sorry. We’re so sorry, but because we’re doing it in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers.

If you need to avoid spoilers, install Tumblr Savior. Click this link for instructions on how to install it for all browsers.
We will tag all of our posts ‘Cold War’ and ‘Spoilers’ so blacklist these two tags.
If you cannot install Tumblr Savior or if you’re using the Tumblr app,you should consider unfollowing and refollowing us later.
If you plan on liveblogging tonight’s episode, make sure to warn your followers as well because unintended spoilers are everywhere!

After Doctor Who, BBC America is showing an all new episode of the what we think is the insanest new sci-fi show on television, Orphan Black…

…and then there’s an all new episode of The Nerdist with a special appearance by Arthur Darvill!!!!!!

No really for real! You can watch a clip of Arthur on The Nerdist as one of “The Cool Dudes” here.
So see everyone in a few hours. In the meantime, we’re going to form a new fandom called Fans of The Cool Dudes, create a Tumblr blog for our fandom, start our own roleplays, get into heated arguments about who the band’s OTP is, and then decide to break off into separate fandoms for each band member. But we’ll all remain fans of Arthur’s post-Who beard.
Cheers!

btw thx to amywiliams for helping fix our Russian!

We can also mix metaphors.
We can also call things metaphors when they’re not actually metaphors.
Basically, we’re impossible.

We’re not college students, though. This blog is run by actual BBC employees.
Tiny blobby employees.

You’re right. By “regenerate” we mean “wait until somebody ejects a new blob of sentient fat.”

Doctor Who Tumblr: how do I get your job?
julietspencers:

serious question

Easy. Wait for us to regenerate.

But in the meantime you can start by applying for a summer internship at BBC America.*
*You have to be in college and your time must qualify for college credit.

You can find all of them under the tag Trafalgar Square Shoot. (They’ve also been tagged ‘Spoilers’.)

We now continue with our regularly scheduled posts.

Warning: for the next 15 minutes this will become a Doctor Who 50th filming in Trafalgar Square Blog.

Because we can’t not reblog all of these posts.
