Reblogging Whovians in Dalek hats from last Saturday’s Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup at SXSW.
Images from this past weekend’s #DWSXSW Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup in Austin, Texas
So thank everyone SO SO MUCH FOR COMING OUT!
We expected 20 of you and 200 showed up.
And while the internet didn’t hold up at the beginning, there was more than enough food, drink, laughs, Dalek hats, and mechanical riding English Bulldog to go around.
We are soooooooooo behind on posting stuff from this weekend’s Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup at SXSW but we’re getting to it.
In the meantime, check out everybody else’s posts from the event on the DWSXSW Tumblr tag.
Big thanks to SXSW and BBC America for having us!
It’s a bit drizzly out but we’re ready to go for the Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup at the BBC America Roadhouse at SXSW. See you soon!
As you can see, I have high hopes for this Doctor Who Tumblr meetup on Saturday.
the-caliginous-quadrant asked: Does the event in Texas mean we get to meet the army of adipose who run this blog?
We’re sending human workers from Adipose Industries instead. You can say hello to them instead.
Ok! Here we go!
Join us next Saturday, March 9 at 2pm for the Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup at SXSW!
BBC America is letting us hold this in their ridonkulously awesome BBC America Roadhouse where they’re making two concessions for us:
The Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup will be all ages and no badge required.
This is a huge deal b/c SXSW usually doesn’t allow this sort of thing. Thanks BBCAmerica! (Go give them a follow.)
So come on by so you can meet and start following other Tumblr Whovians. Think of it as one giant IRL group promo.
There will be WIFI in the Roadhouse so bring your laptops/tablets/phones — whatever you use to browse your Tumblr dash — so we can group blog the queue for the Doctor Who Tumblr. We’ll show you what goes on behind the scenes at the Doctor Who Tumblr which might(?) be interesting to some of you.
We also have a bunch of Doctor Who merch courtesy of the fine folks at the BBC America Shop that we’re giving away for various forms of random awesomeness so DFTBA. We have no idea how we’re going to give stuff out yet so just come and have fun.
Also: we hear you on the call for Doctor Who Tumblr Meetups in other cities (and countries.) Just to let you know we’ve been working on it for a while and still are. Keep the feedback coming because it helps us make our case.
For those of you in the Austin area or traveling there for SXSW, see you then!
DOCTOR WHO TUMBLR MEETUP AT SXSW
Date: Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 2-3pm
Location: BBC America Roadhouse at SXSW, Brush Square Park (corner of E. 4th St and Trinity), Austin, Texas.
All ages. No badge required. (Note: badge required for all other Roadhouse events.)
So… we’re going to be at the BBC America Roadhouse in Austin, Texas next weekend…
What if we got together for an hour during the day to meet one another, kind of like a mini-Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup?
And if you brought your laptops or tablets or whatever we could all “guest curate” the Doctor Who Tumblr for an hour or so?
Would you go to this?
I know I’m late. I had so much footage that this is really choppy and filled with clips from the MeetUp plus short commentary from me just so that it makes a bit of sense. So if you were there, you will probably see yourself.
I know it’s not all that great, I just really wanted to put the two hours of footage in the video, but I picked the best parts…well some of them…
Dear Doctor Who Tumblr, thank you for introducing me to these people [at the Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup]. After two long weeks we are finally back in each other’s arms and it’s perfect. <3
Matt, Karen & Arthur Surprise Appearance at DOCTOR WHO Tumblr Meetup (Comic-Con 2012) (by BBCAmericaTV)
When Matt, Karen, and Arthur looked out in the crowd, this is what they saw.
Tumblr-Whovians, you so crazy.
(Also those are my sunglasses in the bottom of both pictures. I’m the chick with the blonde hair stripe.)
I was right there. I could have touched them.
Not only that but they volunteered to come inside and help put everyone’s bags together for the meetup.
We hope you had a great time, guise.
“Now my Doctor, I’ve seen whole armies turn and run away. And he’d just swagger off, back to his TARDIS and open the door with a snap of his fingers. The Doctor, in the TARDIS. Next stop: Everywhere.”
