I knew that I wanted to come up with something Doctor Who-Related for Valentine’s Day, because I decided I like to draw Doctor-Themed holiday pieces now. I bounced a couple of ideas in my head, all a variation on the theme of the Doctor playing cupid for his companions.
Boring.
Then I got it into my head to take a historical approach, involving the real St. Valentine. That led me to do about two minutes of research into the history of St.Valentine (there were a bunch of them apparently) so I could come up with the concept you see here. It has everything I like: The Doctor running, wearing a cool hat, and hot roman soldiers wearing short skirts.
Now that I think about it, another cool idea would have been to have The Doctor team up with all of the different St. Valentines throughout history to do some crazy stuff like marrying Christians. Maybe next year.

*also: in which I shamelessly use uni as an excuse to make gratuitous fanart so meta it hurts
