The 50th anniversary of the Doctor Whofranchise is still a ways off — it arrives in 2013, to be exact — but the BBC series’ current executive producer has already started thinking about what promises to be “an amazing year” forWho fans.
“I’ve got various plans, but all I can say emphatically is it will be huge,” Steven Moffat tells TVLine.
Will viewers get an extra memorable season of the series, come 2013? Or will the anniversary extravaganza involve, say, stand-alone specials?
“It won’t be just one thing…. We’ll be doing lots of stuff,” is all Moffat would concede. “The plans are quite extensive, and changing all the time. Oh my God, we will hit that year very, very hard indeed.”
Noting that BBC execs “are fully committed” to his grand vision, he said, “There’s lot of decisions we’re making that are about making all that possible. It’ll be amazing.”
