Whovians around the world are watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies hoping that “Doctor Who” will be included. Held in London, the 2012 Summer Olympics have been eagerly awaited. Many British pop culture icons were included such as Benedict Cumberbatch, JK Rowling, Rowan Atkinson and even Mary Poppins. Fans were exuberant when, during the musical montage, there was distinctively the TARDIS sound included.

Inspired by the London Olympics, the drama is an inspiring story of how two young British men, Bert Bushnell (Matt Smith) and Dickie Burnell (Sam Hoare, Jane Eyre), thrown together just weeks before the final of the 1948 London Olympics, rose above distinctions of birth and class to defy the odds and become gold medalists.
Don’t miss the U.S. premiere of GOING FOR GOLD: THE ‘48 GAMES, starring Matt Smith, *** Wednesday July 25 at 8pm ET *** presented by Dramaville, the home of groundbreaking British drama. Immediately followed by the U.S. Premiere of the Third and Final Absolutely Fabulous 20th Anniversary Special, only on BBC America.
