Ok! Here we go!
Join us next Saturday, March 9 at 2pm for the Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup at SXSW!
BBC America is letting us hold this in their ridonkulously awesome BBC America Roadhouse where they’re making two concessions for us:
The Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup will be all ages and no badge required.
This is a huge deal b/c SXSW usually doesn’t allow this sort of thing. Thanks BBCAmerica! (Go give them a follow.)
So come on by so you can meet and start following other Tumblr Whovians. Think of it as one giant IRL group promo.
There will be WIFI in the Roadhouse so bring your laptops/tablets/phones — whatever you use to browse your Tumblr dash — so we can group blog the queue for the Doctor Who Tumblr. We’ll show you what goes on behind the scenes at the Doctor Who Tumblr which might(?) be interesting to some of you.
We also have a bunch of Doctor Who merch courtesy of the fine folks at the BBC America Shop that we’re giving away for various forms of random awesomeness so DFTBA. We have no idea how we’re going to give stuff out yet so just come and have fun.
Also: we hear you on the call for Doctor Who Tumblr Meetups in other cities (and countries.) Just to let you know we’ve been working on it for a while and still are. Keep the feedback coming because it helps us make our case.
For those of you in the Austin area or traveling there for SXSW, see you then!
DOCTOR WHO TUMBLR MEETUP AT SXSW
Date: Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 2-3pm
Location: BBC America Roadhouse at SXSW, Brush Square Park (corner of E. 4th St and Trinity), Austin, Texas.
All ages. No badge required. (Note: badge required for all other Roadhouse events.)

So… we’re going to be at the BBC America Roadhouse in Austin, Texas next weekend…
What if we got together for an hour during the day to meet one another, kind of like a mini-Doctor Who Tumblr Meetup?
And if you brought your laptops or tablets or whatever we could all “guest curate” the Doctor Who Tumblr for an hour or so?
Would you go to this?

If you’re going to be in Austin for SXSW next weekend, this is relevant to your interests.
note: “All events require SXSW badges.”

If you’re going to be in Austin next weekend for SXSW, be sure to stop by the BBC America Roadhouse at Brush Sq Park at E 4th & Trinity on March 8 and 9. Here’s why:
Friday we’re featuring a night of British music with Frank Turner and Skinny Lister, hosted by television presenter Georgie Okell. After that there’s a Friday night set by the legendary DJ Mel who recently spun for President Obama’s Inaugural Ball in January.
Saturday morning you can catch Ireland vs France at the Six Nations Rugby viewing party and then video remix DJ Eclectic Method will perform a tribute to 50 years of the iconic television series Doctor Who.
And on both days, you can get bucked by Lord Humphrey, the bucking mechanical English bulldog and recharge at Gizmodo’s phone detention charging station.

via Anglophenia:
Before the new addition to the Doctor Who cast was announced, the show’s lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat appeared at South By Southwest in sweltering Austin, Texas, where he chatted with Anglophenia’s Jon Sarlin about why Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) have been so successful as companions and their future in Season 7. And, quite appropriately at a techie event like SXSW, Moffat also discusses his use of Twitter to directly engage fans.
