Just Announced: BBC AMERICA to premiere The Secret of Crickley Hall on October 28
The new thriller stars Doctor Who’s Suranne Jones, Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and Donald Sumpter, Primeval’s Douglas Henshall and The Fades’ Tom Ellis and Iain De Caestecker.

From the announcement: Based on the novel by best-selling British scribe James Herbert, the thriller begins a year after the disappearance of Cam, the son of Gabe Caliegh (Tom Ellis, The Fades) and Eve Caleigh (Suranne Jones, Doctor Who). As the couple and their two daughters attempt to start anew, they head to Crickley Hall – a seemingly perfect countryside house.  But when cellar doors start to open on their own, phantom children’s cries are heard through the night and a frenzied cane-wielding specter rears its head – the Caleigh’s realize the house comes with a lot more than they bargained for.  Just as they’re ready to move out, Eve Caleigh hears Cam’s cries and all bets are off. Three-hour event The Secret of Crickley Hall premieres Sunday, October 28, 8:00pm ET/PT on BBC AMERICA.
Shifting between 1943 and present day, the Caleigh’s are desperate to find the source of the crying and the connection the haunted house has to their son. Will they find him before the evil that stalks Crickley Hall finds their other children? Written and directed by Joe Ahearne (Doctor Who), this classic haunted house spine chiller is full of scares, yet underpinned by the heartbreaking story of a family needing to heal and ghosts who need to be laid to rest.

Doctor Who “The Doctor’s Wife” Suranne Jones & Neil Gaiman Interviews - SFX
Does Doctor Who demand a particular acting style?
“I’ve been told I was good at shakey-shakey acting. And I didn’t know I was doing shakey-shakey acting. Matt was particularly impressed with my shakey-shakey. He was like, ‘Yeah, man, that’s really good!’ Karen’s really good at windy-windy acting. There’s lots of wind involved in Doctor Who, isn’t there? Lots of things happen and they put a wind machine on you. All the scary stuff is like second nature to them. I think you’ve got to be fearless. If it’s greenscreen and you can’t actually see what you’re acting with, or you’re imagining that you’re being chased, to be fearless is the best thing, because if you do it half-hearted, then it just looks a bit wet.”

The junkyard planet looks amazing - how much of it was a set and how much was added with CGI?

"I’m not sure if I can really say as I’ve not seen it, sorry! All I can say is that we filmed it in a quarry in Wales and we had to start at 5 in the afternoon, then I was getting in at 7 in the morning. So I was watching Daybreak or whatever as I was coming in after being in a freezing cold quarry all night. They created a world within the quarry that looked beautiful when it was lit in the middle of the night, but what I was told is that when I was pointing things out in this quarry, they’ve spent a lot of money on expanding this world. I’ve been told that it looks great.

"Me and Matt had a lot of fun together and I hope that comes across as well."
