So, here’s the deal. All you have to do is answer the following 10 questions as honestly as you can, and then we’ll tell you if you made it to the end of your prospective trip aboard the TARDIS with your wits, looks and body intact.
Note: no actual psychology has been used in the creation of this quiz. There again, Time Lords aren’t really real either.

If you want a full sense of Mary Tamm, check out this BBC piece honoring her life’s work.
The actress played Romana, a Time Lady from the Doctor’s home planet of Gallifrey, alongside Tom Baker’s Doctor and his robot dog K-9 in a season of six connected stories in 1978-9.
Her first story, The Ribos Operation, saw her join the Tardis crew on a quest to find the six scattered segments of the Key to Time.
Romana’s other adventures included a story called The Pirate Planet, written by Douglas Adams, and The Stones of Blood, which was the 100th story since the sci-fi show started in 1963.
Happy Birthday, Maureen O’Brien!

A Companion To The Doctor’s Companions: Liz Shaw
Hats off to whichever Doctor Who script-writer who came up with the idea of exiling the Doctor to Earth and having him work for UNIT at the beginning of his third incarnation. Especially the Third Doctor. The First would simply not have put up with the indignity, the Second would probably rather have wandered off to learn an eccentric circus skill after a few days on the job, whereas the charmingly superior Third rather suits his capacity as scientific advisor to the Brigadier.
The only trouble is, the job had already gone to someone else, and another doctor, to boot. Enter Dr. Elizabeth Shaw – played by Caroline John – expert in meteorites, physics and medicine, who has arrived hot-foot from Cambridge university to assist the taskforce in their dealings with extra-terrestrial forces.

…next time I go to Marks&Spencer I will spend at least 5 minutes standing there with an avocado in my hand.
You know. They might be magical. Maybe the magical avocado makes you into a companion of the Doctor.
…Worth trying.

First: thanks to everyone for hanging in there today as this blog became a Jenna-Louise Coleman Appreciation Blog. It’s been two years since the last companion change. Moments like this are rare so we have to make the most of it.
As most of you should know by now, actress Jenna-Louise Coleman was announced as The Doctor’s next companion beginning with the 2012 Christmas Special.
So who is Jenna-Louise Coleman? So glad you asked!
She’s 25 and from Blackpool. She’s 5’2” and has brown hair (cosplay just got that much easier for anyone who’s not ginger.)
She’s been in a bunch of British television including the ITV soap opera Emmerdale and the BBC One drama Waterloo Road.
Later this month she’ll appear in an ITV dramatic miniseries about the sinking of the Titanic. The title of the series is ‘Titanic’.

She’s also the voice of Melia in Xenoblade for Wii.
You can see clips of her work on other shows over at Anglophenia.
Best of all, according to Steve Moffat, she’s clever:
“I think she’s possibly the only person I’ve ever heard go faster than Matt.”
When she found out that she got the part, she was in a store holding an avocado.
This has led to a good-hearted but comical Whovian takeover of the ‘avocado’ tag on Tumblr thus confusing healthspo/thinspo Tumblrs everywhere.
Here is a BBC video interview with Jenna-Louise Coleman just after the announcement.
David Tennant approves as do former Classic Who companions Katy Manning and Anneke Wills. Matt is so excited that he sent her a very Matt-sounding text.
We assume he sent it before he and Arthur started posting pictures to Twitter and Instagram.
Yes it is, Arthur. Yes. It. Is.
Speaking of Twitter, Jenna doesn’t have one. Yet.

Beware of imposters.
The media had their reactions and the fandom on Tumblr had theirs. We liked the fandom’s better.
Steven Moffat says that when Jenna’s character meets The Doctor, it will be “one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters”.
Also, there was news about episode count for series 7:
There will be 6 episodes this year, including the Christmas Special, then 8 next year. Again, Jenna’s character will first be seen at Xmas.
And Steven Moffat revealed a big spoiler >DO NOT CLICK THE FOLLOWING LINK!!!< which we hid behind a ‘Read more’.
So that’s it for today. We’re sure that we’ll have more as the days and months go on.
Welcome to the family, Jenna-Louise Coleman. We’re all a bit mad here and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
