An army of adipose.

This is the submission form for 'The Doctor Who Tumblr Asked For My Autograph' Poster Project

Because so many people were telling us that their poster project posts weren’t showing up on the Tumblr tag page, we’ve just set up this Google Form for accepting submissions.

Everybody should post their “autograph” link to the tag and then submit it through this form as well: http://bit.ly/15RHIXe

We know that it’s double work but we want to make sure that we don’t miss anything.

If you need an explanation of our Poster Project, read this post.

There were so many questions for our ‘The Doctor Who Tumblr Asked For My Autograph’ Poster Project that we decided to put together a VFAQ

Question: Can I get a copy of the poster?
Answer: Our current plan is to make the file available for download (.jpg and .psd)

Question: Will you accept a cosplay picture? Even genderbent?
Answer: Definitely!
Question: I’ve got a handmade [insert Doctor Who thing here], would that work for the fan-art thing?
Answer: Yes! We believe that art is however you choose to express yourself as a fan. If you express yourself through handmade things then thank you for that.

Ah yes, we should have been more clear about that.
To us, a sign with your Tumblr URL is your signature. You could type it out over a photo using something like Photoshop or MS Paint…
…or you could simply write it on a piece of paper like this:

During our last contest giving away our autographed poster from Doctor Who, many of you sent us messages of concern that we were giving up our favorite part of the Doctor Who Tumblr office.

That was so cool and sweet and completely unexpected.

And it got us thinking — what could we put in its place?

And that’s when we realized… we want a new set of autographs. YOUR autographs.

Make a fan sign, a new piece of fan art, a selfie with your sonic, with your TARDIS, with your friends, in cosplay, not in cosplay — whatever you want with your Tumblr url (and a short message if you’d like.)

Post it to your blog using the tag ‘the doctor who tumblr asked for my autograph’.

And just to make sure that we receive your post, you can also submit it through this form: http://bit.ly/15RHIXe

We’re going to grab the images off of this tag (one per blog) and use them to create a ginormous poster that we’ll put on our wall.

A few tips: keep your message short, use a thick marker or crayon to ensure that it shows up when printed (we think each image will be about the size of a 3x5 index card), and use good lighting so that we can see your face (a simple desk or table lamp should do.)

We anticipate being able to assemble and print this out the weekend of the Doctor Who Series 7 finale but we may push that deadline back if there’s good reason to.

We want EVERYBODY who works on the show who walks through the doors of BBC America to see how much love there is for this show and for this fandom.

And thank you!!! We can’t wait to see our new poster!!!

Congrats to mangostarburst for winning our autographed poster from Doctor Who: The Snowmen!

Congrats to mangostarburst for winning our autographed poster from Doctor Who: The Snowmen!

So we held a contest this past weekend to give away the centerpiece of the Doctor Who Tumblr office at BBC America: our poster from ‘The Snowmen’ autographed by Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Steven Moffat, and Caro Skinner.

To enter, you had to go out and do something nice for somebody. Nothing about ‘Doctor Who,’ nothing about following or promoing our blog, just something… nice.

After collecting hundreds of posts on Friday and Saturday, the winning post was chosen at random and we finally got confirmation yesterday!

mangostarburst:

Last weekend during my volunteer at the hospital, I was going through the hospital rooms giving out the patient menus for the next day. I got to this one room and inside was this elderly lady. She looked like she was struggling to open something.

Turns out she was trying to open her fancy lipstick container but couldn’t because she was shaking so badly. So I opened her lipstick and started to talk with her.

She was so excited because her “one true love” was going to visit her. But she was also so nervous because they couldn’t be together for reasons she did not want to say. Not to mention she was a shaking mess in her hospital bed.

So I just sat next to her and talked to her for a good 30 minutes before I was called back to the volunteer lounge. But the lady said I was the only person to talk and listen to her that intently. This is why I love volunteering so much¬ making a difference while learning more about the world. ^-^

So congrats, mangostarburst!

While we’re sad to see our poster go, we’re glad it’ll have a home.

insertfunny asked: If I'm not mistaken, Adipose aren't exactly known for their spelling acumen.

You are correct. We are not. We are known for our selfies, though.

As we mentioned yesterday, we’re giving away our autographed poster from Doctor Who: The Snowmen.

It’s signed by Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Steven Moffat, and Caro Skinner.

To win it, you need to do something nice for somebody you know
on Tumblr or in real life. (Don’t tell them what it’s for. Just do the nice thing.)

1. Post something to your blog explaining or showing what you did and how they reacted.

2. Tag it: “it’s nice to do something nice for someone

3. Do the nice thing and post about it by Saturday, 8pm EDT.

We’ll pick a post off of this tag at random to win the poster.

This giveaway is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States including the District of Columbia. (We tried opening this up to users beyond the US but there is no way to. Sorry.) Read all of the official terms and conditions here.

If you win and you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign for you.

Now go do something nice for somebody you know.

And good luck!

Remember back when we made a commercial announcing the Doctor Who Tumblr and put it on TV?

Good times.

So we think we’re going to give away our signed poster from The Snowmen tomorrow…

No wait — we don’t think we’re going to do it. We know we’re going to do it.

UPDATE: the contest post is live!

So we’re going to give away a big poster from The Snowmen signed by Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Steven Moffat, and Caro Skinner tomorrow, Friday.

It’s our prized possession. If we were standing in the market at the Rings of Akhaten, it would be imprinted with the memory of the day they signed it.

We’re not sure what the contest is going to be exactly, but it will probably require you to do something nice for a Whovian friend you admire. The winner will get the poster and the friend will get a prize.

We’re still working out the details.

Expect a post around noon EDT tomorrow. Don’t worry about seeing it then as it won’t close until the 8pm EDT broadcast of Doctor Who on BBC America.

Dear hiddlebear,

For some reason Tumblr won’t let us answer your question directly so we made this post instead.

With love and sincerity,

- doctorwho.tumblr.com

btw, if you haven’t seen the video of Matt and Karen performing the Doctor Who theme song, watch it here. If you haven’t read Matt and Jenna answering questions on Tumblr, read them here.

Okay! We’re done with the livetumblring but not with the tumblring. Here’s what to expect the rest of the night…
We have a behind the scenes video to post along with trailers for next week’s episode “The Crimson Horror.”
Keep watching BBC America for all new episodes of Orphan Black and The Nerdist (Joseph Gordon Levitt(!) Gillian Jacobs(!)) and then a rebroadcast of Doctor Who at 11 Eastern/8 Pacific.
We’re reblogging more of your reactions off of the ‘Doctor Who’ tag and we’re also reblogging your TARDIS rooms off of the ‘My TARDIS’ tag.
Also: CAN WE JUST SAY HOW PROUD WE ARE OF OURSELVES? We went an entire night typing the word ‘center’ the British way (‘centre’) and we didn’t mess up once!

Quick update: we’ll be adding the tag ‘dw spoilers’ to our posts tonight.

Because a good number of you have good reasons for using the specific “dw spoilers” tag instead of the in general “spoilers” tag.

We meant to start doing this last Saturday but then all the days before Saturday happened and we found ourselves on Saturday feeling sort of like this:

image

Thank Gallifrey this is a different Saturday.

Oh! Hello Tumblr!

This is your Saturday afternoon announcement that we will be livetumblring tonight’s 8pm ET BBC America Premiere of Doctor Who: Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.
We’ll be online from 8/7c (well, all day, actually) until the end of the broadcast to reblog your gifs and fan art and reactions off of the ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ tags on Tumblr.

For those of you who have never been to a livetumblring before, it’s where we post moments from the episode to the blog just as they’re happening on the broadcast.

And we’re sorry, we’re so sorry but because we’re livetumblring in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers.

If you’re going to be liveposting (or if you’ve just finished watching the episode in the UK) be sure to tag your posts ‘spoilers’. We’ll be using the tags ‘spoilers’ ‘dw spoilers’ and ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ so install Tumblr Savior if you can.
If you’re browsing your dashboard on your mobile or if you don’t understand the Tumblr Savior stuff, you can also unfollow us and then refollow us after the episode.

After Doctor Who, you can watch a new episode of Orphan Black on both BBC America and SPACE, and then on BBC America, Chris Hardwick’s guests on The Nerdist are Jospeh Gordon Levitt and Gillian Jacobs.

We are super excited that we get to explore a bit more of the TARDIS in tonight’s episode so we started a thing asking you to share what room you think would be in the TARDIS.

There are huuuuuuunnnnnndreds of posts already on the ‘My TARDIS’ tag and we’re blown away by how imaginative and brilliant and clever you all are.

We highly suggest giving the tag page a look see to see what your fellow Whovians are imagining. We’ll be reblogging a bunch of them throughout the weekend.
April 27th is also the birthdays of a certain actor named Jenna Louise Coleman (hence all the Jenna gifs) and a certain producer/director/writer/creator named Russell T. Davies (hence the entire Doctor Who series we all have been enjoying since 2005.) Happy birthday to the both of you!

And Happy Saturday to everyone else! We’ll see you at 8/7c for tonight’s all new episode of Doctor Who on BBC America!

Ok, UK Whovians: Doctor Who - Your Journey Begins in exactly one hour…
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS begins at BBC One at 6.30pm.
Discussing the episode and how it opens up the TARDIS as never before, Matt Smith commented ,‘I think all of us who are fans have always wanted to see what is beyond…’ and this ambitious adventure certainly delivers on that score!
The BBC Doctor Who site has a nice writeup of what to expect for the day so you can give it a gander right here.
For the US and Canada, your journey begins tonight at 8/7c on BBC America and 8p ET on Space Channel.
And on Sunday April 28, you can watch Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS on ABC (Australia) at 7.30pm, on BBC Entertainment South Africa at 7pm, and on BBC Entertainment Poland at 6pm.
Everyone be sure to tag your spoilers!
We’ll be back in a bit with more reblogs of rooms you think you’d find in the TARDIS from the ‘My TARDIS’ tag and we’ll also do this week’s livetumblring announcement…
… and we just got a new box from the BBCAmericaShop that we haven’t opened yet so we think we’ll do a new giveaway for those in the U.S.
