How Leela joined the Doctor on his travels; by not taking ‘goodbye’ for an answer and barging her way in to the TARDIS.

Plot twist: name a time you totally didn’t see that coming.
Let’s be honest here, I cried for days after Leela and K-9’s unexpected departure in The Invasion of Time.

This is the 50 Days of Doctor Who 50th!

Doctor Who legends Tom Baker and Louise Jameson at the BFI
Pictured above: producer Philip Hinchcliffe with actors Louise Jameson and Tom Baker, who, of course, played companion Leela and the fourth Doctor.
Also in attendance, however, were Anneke Wills (1960s companion Polly), and Brian and Sadie Miller, husband and daughter of Elisabeth Sladen, who died almost exactly two years ago. Before her latterday success with The Sarah Jane Adventures, Sladen was a key figure in the Tom Baker period and, as a tribute, a clip was played of her in buoyant form at a BFI event from 2010.

Gallifrey is in Ireland, apparently.

Yet another reason to love Doctor Who: you never know when a Classic Who reference will pop up.
