wrote this in under 10 minutes, pretty proud
(I’ll be writing a text version too, please don’t repost!!)
This would be where the serious entry goes.
Short and sweet and doesn’t rhyme, but it’s in iambic pentameter, so I hope the Bard would approve.
An Ode to the Companions
Live on, dear man, with spirit of the Wolf;
Live on, O Storm, and bravely walk the earth;
Live on, Time Lord, with strength, compassion, wit;
Live on, trav’ler, with deep, unending love;
Live on, rebel, and make each lifetime count—
Live on, Doctor, as they have lived for you.
A Poem From The Doctor
Though much is taken, much abides, and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved heaven and earth, that which we are, we are: one equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will—to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. - Alfred, Lord Tennyson - Ulysses
Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda
Quote from ‘Tonight I Can Write The Saddest Lines’ by Pablo Neruda
Rose went away
So the Doctor is blue.
Ask Donna, “Where’s the Doctor?”
She’ll reply, “Doctor Who?”
Sarah Jane, and Martha,
And now both the Ponds
Had their fun with the Doctor
And now they’ve all gone.
So ask me again
Why the TARDIS is blue:
There’s a sad man inside
With both hearts torn in two.
Disney Junior UK is lining up a second season of shortform series A Poem Is…, with Doctor Who star Matt Smith among the celebrities set to feature.
The 12x5′ animated series will see celebrities read selected works from poets such as Clement Moore, Eliza Lee Follen and William Wise, accompanied by animation from Disney’s vaults.
As well as Matt Smith, actor Richard Briers CBE and comedians David Walliams and Jessica Hynes will narrate episodes, with animation included from Disney films such as Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo and Cinderella.
The first episode will air on Disney Junior on April 30 at 17.25, to coincide with the UK’s National Poetry Month.
Boel Ferguson, VP and general manager of Disney Channels and Online, UK and Ireland, said: “Combining timeless poetry with imagery from some of Disney’s most beloved animations is a fantastic way for young children and their parents to enjoy the beauty of a poem well read.”
A second season of the US version of A Poem Is… also gets underway this month on Disney Channel, featuring stars such as Jessica Alba, Owen Wilson and John Leguizamo.
There are some qualities- some incorporate things,
That have a double life, which thus is made
A type of that twin entity which springs
From matter and light, evinced in solid and shade.
There is a two-fold Silence- sea and shore-
Body and soul. One dwells in lonely places,
Newly with grass o’ergrown; some solemn graces,
Some human memories and tearful lore,
Render him terrorless: his name’s “No More.”
He is the corporate Silence: dread him not!
No power hath he of evil in himself;
But should some urgent fate (untimely lot!)
Bring thee to meet his shadow (nameless elf,
That haunteth the lone regions where hath trod
No foot of man,) commend thyself to God!
