Ran into this awesome group of cosplayers from one of my favorite episodes :) (Season Two: The Girl in The Fireplace)
It’s a good list that includes Madame De Pompadour, Adric, Idris, and at least one Rory. Read the rest over at Anglophenia
Mickey and Rose.

I thought I’d post the Clockwork Droid mask I made! From the episode “Girl in the Fireplace.” Hoping to use it in a full cosplay, but I have to save up the money first.
I bought a cheap plastic mask and then used epoxy to cover it all and build up the features. From there, I sanded, painted, and glossed. Thick elastic is used to keep in on and the eyes are filled in with stretched black tights.
It’s not perfect. I’m actually thinking of making another one just to see if I can perfect some things, but it took so long that I don’t know if I’ll have the time…still, maybe. But I’m really really proud of this one!

“You’ve got holodeck technology and you’re blowing it on the inside of the Tampa Convention Center? How the hell can you not place yourself on a spaceship, or 18th century France, or combine the two…?”
There’s no way this was unintentional. I will instead accept that Jon and his writers are Whovians.

30 DAYS OF SUMMER BREAK DOCTOR WHO - DAY 20
20. What’s your favorite guest appearance by someone from history? (i.e. Churchill, Van Gogh)
Madame de Pompadour from “Girl in the Fireplace.” I didn’t know much about the real Madame de Pompadour before watching this episode, but I thought Moffat handled her character and this story in such a provocative way that it felt as though Renette had been a character longer than just one episode. We also get to see the proto-Girl Who Waited, and just how wonderful and heartbreaking it can be to have a relationship with the Doctor from early age to death. And though she didn’t have a lot of “in-action” scenes, she did have some powerful dialogue that made you really think about the Doctor and his effect on the people he meets.
