30 days of Doctor Who
•Day fourteen: Mods are asleep! Anything goes!
I built a model Torchwood Hub from scratch to go with the action figures. It took 4 years to build and I’ve still a bit to do once my hand recovers from CTS surgery!
Torchwood: Miracle Day gets its BBC America premiere this Saturday, September 14 at 9/8c.

Torchwood Series 2: Reset
BBC Cymru Wales has announced that Brian Minchin is to be the new Executive Producer of Doctor Who, alongside showrunner Steven Moffat.
Brian Minchin is an Executive Producer in BBC Wales drama, currently working on The Game, a new Cold War spy thriller from Toby Whithouse for BBC One, and Wizards Vs Aliens, Russell T Davies’ hit show for CBBC. He has also worked as BBC Executive Producer on Dirk Gently and Being Human.
Brian produced the RTS award-winning and BAFTA nominated series The Sarah Jane Adventures, as well as the UK sections of Torchwood: Miracle Day and was Assistant Producer on Torchwood: Children of Earth.
Brian, who grew up in Aberystwyth, joined the department in Cardiff in 2005 as a Script Editor working on BBC One Wales drama Belonging, before moving on to network dramas Doctor Who and Torchwood in the same role.
Brian says: “I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Steven Moffat on a show that has meant so much to me over the years. I’ve watched in awe as Steven has taken Doctor Who to wild and imaginative places and I can’t wait to get started on many more adventures with the Doctor.”
Faith Penhale, Head of Drama Wales, says: “I’ve no doubt Doctor Who will enjoy a very exciting time with Brian at the helm working alongside Steven. Since joining BBC Wales in 2005, he’s proved he has a fantastic eye for story and a sharp awareness of what makes a drama like Doctor Who unmissable.”
Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, adds: “When I first took over Doctor Who, Brian was there as script editor, and in the most difficult time of a new Doctor and a new era, was completely brilliant. We lost him to producing The Sarah Jane Adventures at the end of our first run. Rising talent keeps rising, is how I comforted myself back then - but now I am beyond happy that Brian has risen all the way back to Doctor Who, in his new role of Executive Producer. I look forward to getting hopelessly lost in space and time with him.”
Um I just found out that in addition to the Bells of St. John airing next Saturday, BBC AMERICA IS BASICALLY DOING A DOCTOR WHO MARATHON ALL WEEKEND WHAT
This is 100% true.
Also of note: there’s a Torchwood marathon beginning late Tuesday, March 26 and running all day Wednesday.
And we’re premiering the new Doctor Who Third Doctor Revisited Special on Sunday, March 31.
I’m a lifelong Doctor Who fan. Like Peter Davison/Colin Baker, lifelong fan. So, when John Barrowman’s name came up for this part, they said, “Well, you should call him, Andrew,” which was amazing. I basically laid out the plan that we had for his character, and who he is and how he relates to everybody and what’s going on because we didn’t have a lot written, and I said, “So, I guess I’m asking you to take a leap of faith.”
He said, “It’s funny, seven years ago, Russell T. Davies told me to take a leap of faith with him, and I hear your passion and creativity the way I heard his. So, let’s do it!”
What’s most exciting is that he’s not playing Jack. This is a completely different character. He’s just such a tremendously talented actor, and it’s one of the things we’re most proud of with the show.

Who’s my special guest on BBC America’s The #BritList… The one &only John Barrowman @Team_Barrowman What a lucky girl I am. We’ll be talking all things Doctor Who, hitting your screens in the holidays
You mean, other than Jack Harkness?
A vortex manipulator was a form of basic time travel used by the Time Agency of the 51st century. It had additional capabilities as well. Time Agents were each given a vortex manipulator. Vortex manipulators used and issued by the Time Agency were housed in leather wrist-straps with a covering flap, enabling the device to be worn conveniently by the Time Agent without drawing attention to the device itself.
Although it was generally used by the Agency, the Family of Blood stole one to follow the Tenth Doctor around the universe.
Part of a series on the #Tech of Doctor Who
So I was fiddling between Google and MapCrunch and do you know what I found?
Do you know who that is? Yep, that’s Mary Poppins.
Do you know where that is? Yep, that’s Cardiff. Specifically, that’s outside the Roald Dahl Plass.
Do you know what the Roald Dahl Plass is? Yep, the roof of Torchwood.
Do you know why Torchwood is there? Yep, that’s because of the rift in Cardiff, specifically that rift for a specific reason.
Do you know where the Doctor re-fuels the TARDIS?
So tumblr was right.
John Barrowman visits BBC’s “The One Show” February 4, 2012.
If you’re up right now (Saturday 1/28 @12a EST or Friday 1/27 @9p PST), turn on BBC America. Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood: Children of Earth is on.
Just to warn you: it’s the edited 60 minute version which means that it’s been cut down to fit in the available time slot which we know drives some of you crazy.
It’s fine with us, though, because it’s late on a Friday and it’s still better than anything else on tv right at this moment. #nobias
If you’re up late tonight. Torchwood: Children of Earth is on BBC America tonight from 12 midnight until 5am.
