We weren’t going to do a livetumblring announcement today but then our inbox was flooded with “WHERE’S THE LIVETUMBLRING ANNOUNCEMENT?” asks so….
We are livetumblring tonight’s U.S. BBC America Premiere of Doctor Who: Cold War!

Привет, товарищи! (Hello Comrades!)

This is your friendly weekly announcement that we will be LIVETUMBLRING tonight’s U.S. premiere of Doctor Who: Cold War.

If you’ve never joined us for a livetumblring before, let us tell you what it’s all about.

Livetumblring is a ritual of the Doctor Who Tumblr where Whovians gather around their TVs and Tumblr dashboards to watch the new episode of Doctor Who.
We live-reblog your gifs and pics and reactions to this episode as soon they happen on The Old God television. If we were all in a room together we’d sort of look like this:

Livetumblring starts at 8pm EDT and ends around 9:15pm EDT. After that, we comb all of the episode-related tags so we can find for more of your posts.
And we’re sorry. We’re so sorry, but because we’re doing it in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers.

If you need to avoid spoilers, install Tumblr Savior. Click this link for instructions on how to install it for all browsers.
We will tag all of our posts ‘Cold War’ and ‘Spoilers’ so blacklist these two tags.
If you cannot install Tumblr Savior or if you’re using the Tumblr app,you should consider unfollowing and refollowing us later.
If you plan on liveblogging tonight’s episode, make sure to warn your followers as well because unintended spoilers are everywhere!

After Doctor Who, BBC America is showing an all new episode of the what we think is the insanest new sci-fi show on television, Orphan Black…

…and then there’s an all new episode of The Nerdist with a special appearance by Arthur Darvill!!!!!!

No really for real! You can watch a clip of Arthur on The Nerdist as one of “The Cool Dudes” here.
So see everyone in a few hours. In the meantime, we’re going to form a new fandom called Fans of The Cool Dudes, create a Tumblr blog for our fandom, start our own roleplays, get into heated arguments about who the band’s OTP is, and then decide to break off into separate fandoms for each band member. But we’ll all remain fans of Arthur’s post-Who beard.
Cheers!

btw thx to amywiliams for helping fix our Russian!
We recommend using Tumblr Savior.

mypantsareonfire asked: for those of us who wont get to see the new episode for a couple of days yet, which tag will you be using so that i can temporarily block it (using tumblr saviour) until it screens here in new zealand?
We’ll tag our livetumblring posts ‘The Bells of Saint John’ and ‘Spoilers’. (We’ll mention it again in our livetumblring announcement later today.)
If anybody needs instructions on how to use Tumblr Savior, see THIS POST.
Alternately, you can just not use Tumblr for the next day or two.

(Yeah, right.)
Or you can unfollow the Doctor Who blog and then refollow us after you’ve seen The Bells of Saint John. (We’re 100% totally cool with this and totally understand.)
But really, you should just install Tumblr Savior because every Whovian will be blogging about the show today.

Remember that the UK broadcast starts at 6:15pm GMT (2:15pm EDT) today, and the US/Canadian broadcast starts at 8:00pm EDT so if you’re following any Whovians outside of your timezone, you’ll see their posts in your dashboard.
The UK BBC One broadcast of the mid-season finale of Doctor Who begins in an hour!
We cannot express enough the importance of tagging your spoilers as ‘spoilers’.
So instead we are expressing it through this gif. And in case the single pin isn’t enough, we’ve added EVEN MORE PINS.
This episode is KIND OF THE BIGGEST EPISODE to hit the fandom IN YEARS so BE SURE TO TAG YOUR SPOILERS.
For everyone watching in time zones after the UK, install Tumblr Savior and blacklist the tags you think people will use tonight. Our personal blacklists include the tags ‘spoilers’ ‘dw spoilers’ ‘the angels take manhattan’ ‘wtf’ and every profane variation of ‘OMG’ that we can think of.
We WILL BE LIVETUMBLRING the U.S. premieres of The Angels Take Manhattan later tonight. We will post our usual warning about an hour out.
Alert! We Will Be Livetumblring tonight’s U.S. Premieres of Doctor Who: The Power of Three!
Hello Whovians!

This is your regular Saturday warning that in one hour we will be liveposting gifs and quotes and screencaps and reactions to the east coast and west coast U.S. premieres of Doctor Who: The Power of Three! And we will accomplish this feat, sitting on a couch, in front of a television while in our pants.

This will take place from 9p-10p EDT, after which we’ll take a break to put some American pants on top of our English pants, post some non-spoilery Who things to act as a buffer, and then livetumbl again from 9p-10p Pacific Time.

And a reminder — because we’re doing it in real time — there is no way for us to avoid posting spoilers during these hours!

BUT DO NOT BE SAD DONNA! EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OKAY!
If you need to avoid spoilers, install Tumblr Savior. <— Click that link for instructions on how to install it for all browsers. We will tag all of our posts ‘The Power of Three’ so blacklist it. We have emboldened and embiggened this text just in case you happen to wake up surprised at Demon’s Run and have no idea why your Tumblr dashboard is full of spoilers.

If you cannot install Tumblr Savior and cannot live without Tumblr for four hours, you should consider unfollowing and refollowing us. Anyone who also plans on liveblogging with us (we like it when you do that) should warn their followers as well.

For those not doing the unfollowing and refollowing thing, see you in one hour!

Ok so we’re about to start livetumblring The God Complex, once from 9-10p EDT for the East Coast and Central folks and then once again from 9-10p PDT for the Pacific and Mountain People.
If you need to avoid spoilers, install Tumblr Savior. We’ve posted a link to instructions for all browsers.
In other news, BBC America is airing Torchwood Season One again. We’re happy that it gives us a chance to spend time with Ianto, Toshiko, and Owen again. Check the schedule for listings.
Also, mark your calendars for the premiere of The Nerdist on BBC America, next Saturday 9/24 at 10PM!
For one thing, Chris is a celeb who is a huuuuuuge Whovian.
Oh yeah, and, also, his special guest is a Mister Matt Smith.
Ok. I guess that’s it.

See you soon. And keep the faith.
The UK premiere of Doctor Who The God Complex starts in a couple of hours. Additionally, we’ll be livetumblring the East and West Coast U.S. premieres later this evening. Which is why we’re rebageling this post now.
Want to follow Doctor Who Official Tumblr but avoid our spoilery livetumblring b/c of DVR, time zone, other reasons?
May we suggest installing Tumblr Savior?
It works pretty much all browsers except, like, Netscape Communicator 3.0.
It allows you to hide tags. You can unhide them when you want.
We use it every week and you should too. For great justice.
How to setup Tumblr Savior
Tumblr Savior is now available on four browsers:
- Tumblr Savior for Chrome
- Tumblr Savior for Safari
- Tumblr Savior for Opera
- Tumblr Savior for Greasemonkey on FirefoxIf you don’t have Greasemonkey installed, you can get it here. You’ll need to restart your browser after it installs.
Go to http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30860 and click on the Install This Script button in the top right corner of the page. You’ll get a notice in the bottom right corner of your browser saying it was successfully installed.
Right click on the Greasemonkey icon in the bottom right corner or your browser. Then click on Manage User Scripts…
A box will pop up, select Tumblr Savior in the left hand column then at the bottom click the Edit button.
If this is your first time doing this it will ask you for a text editor. Try using notepad which is usually located here: ‘c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe’ If you want to get fancy try using Notepad2.
At this point the script will open up in your text editor and you’re ready to add words to the filter. I hope you still remember which words you were going to add.
Tumblr Savior defaults to the words that I don’t want to see, you’ll probably want to change all of those. They need to be in single quotes and comma separated.
Once you are done editing them just save the file and refresh your dashboard. For best results you should be on a page in your dashboard that has something on your filtered word list.
gaila asked: Okay Official Doctor Who tumblr account, you are awesome and I am very much looking forward to seeing the liveblogging along with the show. That being said, I'd like to recommend Tumblr Savior for the followers who may want to be on Tumblr at the time it airs here on the East Coast yet don't want to be spoiled. I'm not sure if that kind of recommendation is allowed, but it's very handy!
For anyone who doesn't know, Tumblr Savior is a greasemonkey script that allows you to choose which words and phrases you want to be hidden from your dashboard, and it doesn't have to be a permanent block because you can always go back and remove those words from the blacklist. It's also available as an extension for Chrome and Safari, and I know from personal experience that the chrome extension is very easy to use. Not to mention handy when you're say, on Tumblr at work while everyone is watching TV.
TL;DR Love Whovian Tumblrs, but Tumblr Savior is helpful.
Brilliant!
Please help SPREAD THE WORD.
