Doctor Who TARDIS pumpkin with working door(!)

wearableart4sale: Yes the inside is larger than the outside. It is amazing these white synthetic pumpkins. Hayley my daughter and I spent over 2 hours or even 3 hours looking in about 4 pumpkin patches looking for a “Tardis” pumpkin until we finally found one. I think we paid about “$18.00 and but then when we realized how much time we were going to put into carving the pumpkin thought, gee it will rot and be gone in a week and that is no fun… So we went to Micheal’s got a white synthetic pumpkin and did a bunch of creative carving.  The “Police Box” words were challenging. We would do it differently next time for sure. We wish we had seen that gal’s pumpkin carving patterns before we had started carving our own design.  Oh well. This is my first ” Tardis” attempt. Not my first pumpkin attempt. My first synthetic pumpkin I have to admit. I am a purist when it comes to Halloween, but this design was too complicated to not use a real pumpkin.  Anyhow, if you like it reblog it. Hope you do. Cheers. There are 4 photos in all showing the work in progress. The 4th photo is of the original drawing. Closed doors, doors open without details inside and the details inside.

My entry for the 2011 BBC America costume contest … the Tardis!  Crashing into my neighborhood!  The costume was completely machine-sewn by me and the lamp on my head has a working light inside.  Inspired by different online Tardis dress designs and accompanied by Eleven’s sonic screwdriver.

Action shot! The 18th is the BBC America Costume Contest deadline, so head RIGHT OVER HERE and submit away…
